Showplace Drive is a real place. It is the street where my grandmother lived, and the place where every instinct I have about beauty, home, and the way a space should feel was formed. I am Kim White, a designer and the founder of this brand, and that street is where this story begins.
On weekends, going to my grandmother’s house felt like a getaway. I felt special there. Her home was immaculate, intentional, and uniquely hers. Her furniture was chosen with purpose. Her pantry was organized with care. Every space was utilized thoughtfully and everything had its place. My grandmother was the kind of woman who reminded me to push my shoulders back, keep my head up, and stand tall. She moved through the world with grace and standards and everything in her home reflected that. She was a Black woman who built something beautiful in a world that did not always make room for her. That dignity was woven into everything she did. Living inside that kind of order and elegance made me feel safe. It is a feeling I have spent my adult life trying to recreate everywhere I live.
This brand carries the name of her street so that what I learned in that house can travel into homes I will never have the privilege of stepping inside.
